I read somewhere . . .

. . . That 70% of weight loss is influenced by diet,
and 30% is influenced by exercise.

I totally believe this is true. Why?
Because when I work out really really hard... I only lose a pound or two.
Then I stop working out really really hard, and I only gain a pound or two.

My only consistency in this so-called diet is my eating habits...

As much as I'd like to say I eat healthy, the truth is: I eat pretty badly...
Somewhere along the line my food conscience {you know, the little person in your head that tells you 'you shouldn't be eating that'} fell asleep or went on vacation and never came back. Or maybe it's on hawaiian time... and doesn't get to tell me I SHOULDN'T until 3 hours after I DID.

The only time I tell my self that's a bad idea, is after I've already eaten it... This is something I'm trying to work on... eating only the good stuff. Snacking on only the good stuff. WANTING only the good stuff.
** and by 'good' I mean healthy  : )

Someday...

  1. It is, completely true. Eating is EVERYTHING. I have some really good tips that i can share from my own experience though!
    - if you find yourself hungry, eat an apple. They contain a fiber called "pectin" that is supposed to make you feel full. (1 apple = 5 grams of pectin)
    - drink water ALL THE TIME. Seriously, it fills you up and stops you constantly thinking about stuff to put in your belly. And helps flush you out. it's good to drink water while your are eating your meal so you don't over eat. (watermelon is awesome too)
    - Try to distract yourself from eating between meals. Go out more often. Stay away from your house (and the temptations that pull you in) as much as you can. This is easy to do in summer. If you distract yourself this whole process gets sooooo much easier.
Hope I gave you at least SOMETHING useful in this too-long (kind of anal) paragraph, or should I say novel. Hehe, good luck! :)

  2. Fried Eggs,

THANK YOU for those wonderful tips. I really do need to work on the whole water thing... it's at the top of my list. And the apple note? Love it! I had no idea about Pectin... thanks!

    Your comment/paragraph/novel was VERY helpful!!

  5. I recently went on vaca for 3 weeks and was in panic mode because I knew I wouldn't have access to the gym. I usually gym it 4-6 times a week! I ate whatever I wanted because that's what you do when you're exploring a new culture and surprising lost weight!! It's all in the portions!!
